Sylvester Baxter Riverfront Park is a 6.1-acre park on the bank of the Mystic River in Massachusetts. The park is part of the first phase of the area’s expansive community improvement project, known as Assembly Row. This family friendly area was built in an effort between the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation and Federal Realty Investment Trust to transform a city into a community. The park is lined with bike and walking paths to connect the neighboring residential areas to the park and the nearby shopping district. Festivals, concerts and family-movie nights are held year-round within the park.
Delta Fountains partnered on this project with Copley Wolff Design Group, who designed the play area. Delta Fountains was contracted to manufacture the equipment for the small interactive splash pad. The splash pad is a whimsical trio of frogs that allow children to cool off and connect with the area’s natural water in a safe environment. The frogs are aligned in a small circle. They “spit” in gently arching jets toward the middle of the circle, where excess water is drained through a small, bronze grate.
