Liberty Square interactive, musical fountain is in the downtown area of Greenville, SC. The fountain includes the capability to respond to any music selected. The arching jets are a favorite detail of the community and fountain designers. Delta Fountains manufactured and supplied all the fountain equipment and controls for the water feature. Delta’s programmers also programmed the water show controller.
The musical response capability was created using a Mediamation Show Controller and a Progammable Logic Control system with embedded CPU. A touchscreen HMI is used to produce a machine log which translates both the frequency and decibel of music into a visual form of moving and dancing water effects. Pop jets animate this log through the show controller.
With the ability to change the fountain programming so frequently, by simply choosing new music, even repeat visitors are greeted with a unique and new experience. This feature created an attraction that “never grows old.” The fountain can also be thematically programmed by this music selection ability so that local events are custom-fitted to the ambiance produced by the fountain.
The public fountain also required several water sterilizing measures. Delta Fountain provided cartridge filters, pumps, and chemical tanks along with the standard fountain equipment to ensure the water quality was safe for public use.
