Jacksonville, FL
The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens’ fountain is a whimsical stationary bowl feature that sits in the center of the Trout River Plaza. The Plaza is a resting place for zoo visitors to sit, eat, or visit one of the shops surrounding the plaza courtyard. In the warmer months children play within the fountain’s cascading water. During the holiday season, the staff decorates the plaza surrounding the fountain with lights and ornaments. The Bowl feature is kept on during these nights to reflect the lights and create a Florida-style winter wonderland.
The bowl fountain at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardensfountain is a bronze feature with wildlife statues that sit inside the bowl. When the bowl is full, a largeĀ bronze native bird sits in the middle of the fountain and several schools of fish lay along the water’s surface near the edge of the bowl. Water flows over the edge of the bowl to a trough hidden below the courtyard’s dry deck through a grate. Delta Fountains provided all the equipment for this water feature and manufactured the metal and fiberglass necessary for the hidden trough and vaults.
