Charlotte, NC
First Ward is one of Charlotte’s most recently revitalized communities. In an effort to create a community where people could live, work, and play, the century-old Ward built a large park at its center. First Ward Park is a 4-acre area featuring office space, residential housing, hotels, retail outlets, greenspace, and water features. Delta Fountains and ColeJenest & Stone were responsible for designing the interactive- and oval water features within the park.
The interactive feature at First Ward Park houses a mixture of water and mist displays to entertain and cool its visitors. Pop jets, mist, and ground effect shower head nozzles create a variety of displays to watch or play in. The granite seating on the edge of the fountain deck offers visitors an area to gather and relax in the busy urban setting.
The oval fountain is a stationary fog, light, and jet feature within the park’s pavilion. The fountain features 20 smooth bore jets around the outside of the basin and a fog system in the middle. The jets ramp up and down throughout the day to allow the fog to roll over the stone border to cool off the surrounding visitors. RGB color-changing lights sit near the jets.
