The Frederick Douglass Memorial Circle was formally dedicated in September 2011 in honor of Frederick Douglass, who escaped from slavery to lead the abolitionist movement. The space includes a granite memorial water wall, a statue, and a reflection water feature.
The water feature consists of a water wall with symbolic markings, a cascading water effect and spouting streams of water at the northwest corner of Central Park. The memorial fountain has pale green lights at its center to represent the constellations on the path to freedom. The site and fountain were designed by Algernon Miller. Delta Fountains provided the mechanical equipment for the water wall, which is located at the Northwest corner of Central Park.
