Anti-Vortex Plate

The Anti-Vortex Plate is manufactured from stainless steel type 304 and is adjustable. It prevents water vortexing on the suction and discharge side of a fountain system by slowing down the velocity and angles of water to allow for a manageable and adjustable flow. Anti-Vortex Plates are also important, as they protect your pump impeller. If the water catches too much air as it squeezes into a drain without an Anti-Vortex Plate, the air will compress. That compressed air will travel through your system and reach your pump impeller. The air will destroy your impeller, possibly beyond repair.

Delta Fountains uses these plates in conjunction with several other fountain components, including suction and discharge sumps.
